Disclaimer: I don’t own any of the characters. I just borrowed them from their rightful owners for the sake of having some fun writing and reading. This is my first attempt in writing a fan fiction. I’ve never written anything like this before and I am relatively new in this fandom. So, there is a good chance that the people involved may be a bit out of character. Thinking that it is set in an alternate universe where one of the girls was not an idol, the Iwate Incidents had never happened, and LINE had not yet been a popular way of communication may help. Regarding ratings, I’ve never written anything that can be rated more than PG-13. However, the story does portray a same-sex attraction between girls. So, if you’re not comfortable or not allowed to access such thing wherever you are, please do feel free to stop reading here. Reader discretion advised.
THEATER BLUES: An AKB48’s YuiParu Fanfic
by Arch DeNight
Chapter 12—The Morning After
Paruru was awaken by a singing sound and some delicious smell. She opened her eyes and found herself lying on Yuihan’s bed. The sun was already up and Yuihan was in the kitchen area, preparing some breakfast while singing a song Paruru did not know. She really does have an amazing voice. She thought while closing her eyes for a little more.
A few minutes later, she was awaken by a gentle hand on her cheek. Paruru opened her eyes and was greeted by a smiling Yuihan. She looked really beautiful in the morning.
“Join me for breakfast?” Yuihan asked.
They enjoyed their breakfast in silence. The morning was a bit cold, but Paruru felt warm inside. She felt content. But, there was some kind of a giddy feeling growing deep in her heart as well. She could not help staring at Yuihan’s face. She followed every movement the girl made and had an unfathomable urge to touch her.
“Are you okay, Paruru?” asked Yuihan, a bit concerned.
“Hai,” Paruru tried to smile and resumed eating.
Soon after this, she would go back home. Then, with the hectic schedules and preparations they had for the upcoming New Year’s performances, they might not be able to see each other much for a week or two. Somehow, the possibility of not being able to talk or spend some time with each other for a while made Paruru felt sad. She never felt that way before.
“Jaa… I’ll see you later, okay,” said Yuihan.
“Thank you for letting me to stay over,” said Paruru, standing with her back on the door.
“Thank you for spending the night with me. It was really fun,” Yuihan smiled sincerely.
Paruru responded with similar smile. Then, she seemed like she just remembered something and looked for it in her bag.
“Um… I made this a while ago, but I hadn’t got the chance to give it to you.”
She moved closer to give a box of cookies to Yuihan, “Since I can finally give it to you today, just think of it as a Christmas present, okay?”
“Ah! Thank you!” Yuihan’s face lighted up, “But, I haven’t prepared any Christmas present for you…”
“It’s all right,” Paruru smiled.
“No, I really owe you one. I should give you something next time we meet. Is there anything you’d like?”
Is there anything she would like? Paruru thought of it for a moment. There was a fleeting doubt. But, then she moved closer and tugged on one end of Yuihan’s shirt.
“Is it really okay… to ask for anything I would like?”
“Um? Sure,” Yuihan chuckled, “I don’t know if it’s something I can get for you or not. But, if it is, then I would certainly get it for you.”
There was a couple of deafening heartbeats before Paruru could speak again.
She moved even closer to Yuihan, still holding onto her shirt. There was not really any difference in their heights. But, the floor of the entryway was a bit lower so Paruru stood on her toes. When their faces were just a few centimeters apart, she closed in the gap, letting her lips touching Yuihan’s. It was a really quick kiss. Before the older girl was able to show any kind of reaction, it was already over.
“Jaa… Now, you don’t have to give me anything in return,” Paruru quickly turned around and made her way out of the door, “Thank you. I’m going now.”
Her face was hot. Her heart was beating like crazy. So, even after she closed the door behind her, she was still leaning on it, trying to calm herself for a while.
She did not know why she did it. All that she knew was that she really wanted to do it. She did not know how Yuihan would react to it. She did not have the nerve to find out so she immediately left afterwards. Her lack of nerves made her unable to see the deep blush on Yuihan’s face. But, she did hear a ringing sound of a phone and Yuihan’s voice anwering it right before she left the place.
“Hai. It’s Yui. Is everything okay?”
- -han: a honorific used by the Japanese, especially in Kansai region; equal to -san in Kanto region
- Hai: Yes, all right
- Jaa/Ne: can have many different meaning, but in this context refer to something equal to “Well…” or “You know…”; used to grab someone’s attention or to start a rather delicate conversation, just like “Ano…”
